Payment/Receipts
What if the people who sponsor me want a receipt?
- When your Mum or Dad signs the entry form or ticks the box for entering online, you will be sent a receipt book with your starter pack.
- Once you have a receipt book, just fill in your details on the front cover and you are ready to go.
- Make sure the piece of cardboard attached to the book is underneath each receipt before you start to write.
- Remember to write as neatly as you can.
- There are two receipts on each page and you should try to write on the right-hand one first.
- The top copy (white paper) will go the sponsor and you will keep the one underneath.
- Ask an adult to help you the first few times until you are sure you can do it properly.
What if I lose my receipt book?
- You should always keep your receipt book in a very safe place.
- Receipt books are a tax document, so your mum and dad will have to let us know that it has been lost, by filling out a statutory declaration form.
- To order a new receipt book they can call the local MS Readathon office on 1300 677 323
Other receipt book information
- You can find the Receipt book number on the top right hand side of the first page.
- If you have more than one receipt book and you are not sure which child it was issued to, then you can check the Return Form we send out in June for the number that appears next to the receipt book number.
- MS Readathon can issue more receipt books where a signature or online consent was given to receive the initial receipt book. Simply contact your local office on 1300 677 323.
- If you have accidentally destroyed your receipt book then you can download a statutory declaration to account for the missing book and call your local office for a replacement.
How will I send in my money?
- We will post you a "How to Pay" form in June. It will have everything you need to finish the MS Readathon, send in the money you have raised, enter the competition to earn a Tutoring Scholarship, and of course, also receive your Reading Rewards.
- If you are an early bird then you can read about how to return sponsorship money online or by mail right now.
What if I can't send the money in before 30th August 2008?
- It is much better if we can get the money you raise as quickly as possible.
- You will still get all your Reading Rewards even if takes you a bit longer than 30th August to collect all your sponsorships.
- Unfortunately, to have the chance to win a Tutoring Scholarship we must receive your money and forms by the 30th August . However, if you send money and forms in after this date you will still get your Rewards!
- It doesn’t usually happen, but a prize may have to be changed for another one. For more information you can read the terms and conditions for your rewards.
Why have I received a statutory declaration?
- Receipt books are tax documents that are issued only with the consent of an adult by way of a signature on the original entry form or confirmation during online registration.
- As tax documents, all receipt books, used or unused, must be returned to MS Readathon.
- If you have received a statutory declaration it means that our records show that we issued a receipt book to you and it has yet to be returned.
- Please note that if you have misplaced the receipt book without filling out any receipts, we simply need your signature on the statutory declaration.
- If receipts were issued from the lost receipt book, you will need to fully complete the statutory declaration.
Why doesn’t ‘Pay Online’ give me a Tax Deductible Receipt?
-
Pay Online is intended for use by people who have registered, have an ID number and have already had a receipt book sent to them. This allows you to write a receipt for individual sponsor donations.
-
People can then collect multiple donations, write receipts for them all and then pay in a lump sum online for convenience.
-
If this lump sum online payment were allocated a tax receipt we could potentially have two receipts for one actual payment amount (something our auditors would be very grumpy about).
-
If this is still not clear, please contact us on 1300 677 323.
