MS Fundraising Tips
The very special partners, supporters and sponsors who have helped support the 2007 program.

The MS Readathon is all about having fun and earning reading rewards while you read to raise money to help Australians who are living with the MS disease.

Once you’ve registered for the MS Readathon and received you Starter Pack, it’s time to begin getting ready by asking friends and family to be your sponsor. You can take a look at how your sponsorship money helps people with MS here.

To help you ask people if they would like to be one of your MS Readathon sponsors, Bosko has put together his favorite fundraising tips. Why not print this page out and take it with you!

Some things you will need

  • Your sponsor list
  • A pen or pencil
  • An MS Readathon Receipt Book (mum or dad would have had to ask for one when they registered you.If you would like one then they will have to contact us).

Bosko’s Top 10 Fundraising Tips

Before you get started

  1. Make sure you check with mum or dad if it’s ok to ask family and friends for sponsorship.
  2. It is very important that you DO NOT ask any strangers for money.
  3. Some people might like to sponsor you for the amount of time you spend reading – so the more great things you read the more money you raise!
  4. Some people might like to sponsor you just for being in the MS Readathon.

Asking people to be your sponsor

  1. Have a chat with mum or dad to find out the best way to ask someone to sponsor you Always speak politely.
  2. If they sponsor you always thank them for their donation.
  3. Write their name neatly on the sponsor list and put down how much they have given you.

Giving them a receipt

  1. If someone has sponsored you more than $2 then you can ask them if they would like a receipt from your MS Readathon Receipt Book.
  2. If you run out of MS Readathon receipts then you can get mum or dad to contact us.

Collecting Money

  1. Ask mum or dad where you should keep your MS Readathon money as you need to be very careful to keep it somewhere safe.

Print out a page that shows what your money can do to help people with MS. You can show this to family and friends who might like to sponsor you.
