All the nerve fibres that carry messages through our body have a cover that protects them. This cover is called ‘myelin’.
When people have MS, the myelin gets damaged in parts of their body, so some of the messages from the brain travel very slowly, get muddled up, or are completely blocked.
This makes the person feel different and then changes happen to their body.
