Terms & Conditions - 2008

The 2008 MS Readathon is a fundraising event of Multiple Sclerosis Australia, ABN 51 008 515 508, in conjunction with the MS Societies in each Australian State and Territory.

The governing law relating to all matters relating to the MS Readathon is New South Wales and all participants submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of such state, unless standards in a given state or Territory exceed those of NSW.

In the event of a dispute the decision of Multiple Sclerosis Australia is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Personal information is collected in accordance with the Privacy Policy as outlined on this website.

Reading Rewards

To be eligible for Rewards, all sponsorship money, receipt book(s) and return forms must be received by MS Readathon, prompt delivery of the Rewards is only guaranteed if all items are received by the 30th of August 2008.

All Rewards are awarded at the discretion of Multiple Sclerosis Australia. Multiple Sclerosis Australia reserves the right to award a Reward of equivalent value to the one offered.

Rewards are not redeemable for cash.

Individual Rewards may be awarded to non-Australian residents. Multiple Sclerosis Australia reserves the right to charge packaging and postage costs in relation to the delivery of such Rewards.

The Highest Fundraiser in Australia Reward is open only to Australian residents.

The Highest Individual Fundraiser Reward is open to individuals who are under 18 years of age as at the 1/1/2008. This age restriction may be waived for individuals with an intellectual disability, at the discretion of Multiple Sclerosis Australia.

The words "complete" and "completed" are used throughout these terms and conditions.

To complete the 2008 MS Readathon means, in this context, that all sponsorship money, receipt book(s) and return forms are received by MS Readathon before the 30th of August 2008. Although our official money due date is August 30 th, we have plenty of people who do the MS Readathon later, and send their money in after this date. Please be assured that you will still receive your Rewards, even if you submit money after this date. (NB: The due date of August 30 th is the cut-off date for State and National Highest Fundraiser awards and state incentive draws.) Rewards are redeemable after this date but Multiple Sclerosis Australia does not guarantee prompt fulfilment.

Individual Award Level Prizes

  • Individual Rewards Levels are defined as those Rewards that are awarded according to the sponsorship money raised. For the 2008 MS Readathon the following 10 levels apply to the term “completion”: $20 to $49, $50 to $99, $100 to $249, $250 to $499, $500 to $999, $1000 to $2499, $2500 to $3499, $4000 to $4999 and $5000 and above.
  • The Rewards awarded for the above ten levels are outlined on this website on the Rewards page, and the 2008 Registration Booklet.
  • Individual Rewards are awarded to all participants who complete the MS Readathon subject to a minimum, and total amounts raised.
  • Donations below the stipulated first level are recognised with a certificate and limited edition MS Readathon Bookmark but for competitions are not deemed to have “completed” the program.
  • Sponsorship money or a donation given by an adult to another MS Readathon participant will be included as sponsorship money raised by that participant only and will not also be included as sponsorship money raised by that adult.
  • Multiple Sclerosis Australia reserves the right to substitute an item of equal value in lieu of any Rewards at the sole discretion of Multiple Sclerosis Australia.
  • Rewards and certificates will be sent directly to the address of the completing participant. Rewards will be sent promptly in response to money and forms being received before the end of August. MS Australia gives no guarantees regarding the timing of the delivery of Rewards after that date.

Highest Individual Fundraiser in Australia Reward

  • Individual Highest Fundraiser Rewards are outlined on this website on the Rewards page.
  • To qualify as a Highest Fundraiser, sponsorship money, receipt book(s) and the return form must be received by the 30th of August 2008 at the MS Readathon National Processing Centre.
  • Highest Individual Fundraiser Rewards are open only to Australian residents who are under 18 years of age as at the 1/1/2008. Age restrictions for Highest Individual Fundraiser category may be waived for individuals with an intellectual disability at the discretion of Multiple Sclerosis Australia.
  • Multiple Sclerosis Australia reserves the right to substitute an item of equal value in lieu of any Reward at the sole discretion of Multiple Sclerosis Australia.
  • Highest Individual Fundraisers will be announced on Wednesday 5th September 2008 and subsequently notified by mail.
