All Things Literacy for the Month of August

For the month of August, we have some big centre fun to come. MS Readathon brings out their “Reading is Magic Month”. In the Foyer next to the Kiosk (sign in and out I-pad) is a reading pack, the aim is to read a book a day for all ages to get the great benefits from reading. We would love for you to share the art of Literacy with your children through I spy (we all know how to play). Ask your child to find an item in the book then get them to speak the word/words. For older children ask them what they can see in the picture. Make it your own, have fun and follow your child’s imagination.  Having a solid foundation in early literacy skills is critical to children's future reading performance.... Early literacy development begins in the first three years of a child's life and supports their future language development, reading, writing, and overall learning. If a child can't read, they can't learn. Language development and literacy is no doubt a critical part of any child's overall development. It supports the ability of your child to communicate, and express and understand feelings. It also supports your child's thinking ability and helps them develop and maintain relationships We have some challenges happening in the rooms to bring the magic to life, so please stay tunned. Book Week is within the month of August and a dress up competition is pending Each week we would love for you to share some fun memories on Storypark and Facebook.
