If you enjoy Kate Forsyth’s fairytale reimagining novels or even the Disney Twisted Tales by Elizabeth J. Braswell and Elizabeth Lim, you’ll definitely love Stiefvater’s ‘Bravely.’ It’s not exactly a ‘what if’ scenario like Twisted Tales nor an actual reimagining of Disney/Pixar (2012)’s ‘Brave’ - it follows on a few years after the actual events of the latter and is a highly plausible (albeit unofficial) sequel to the movie.
Stiefvater has generally done a great job in depicting the characters from ‘Brave’ in a way that is very much in keeping with the ones readers know and love. I especially liked the way the triplets, Hamish, Hubert and Harris, have been fleshed out and how readers watch them develop in their own unique ways. At the same time, I’m impressed with the way that in spite of their developments they still show outward signs of the mischievous young lads first shown in ‘Brave.’Show moreShow less
