I was so surprised by this! I’m pretty sure I bought this years ago at The Book Grocer [a shop that sells random, discount books] and decided to pick it up in lockdown 2.0.
This book recounts Anna’s life in the dark as a result of her chronic illness seborrheic dermatitis that is exacerbated by light. The non-circular narrative was refreshing and fascinating. It was filled with tidbits like ‘games to play in the dark’ and short snippets of her life, like holidays and how she passes her time. It had humour, heart and gave readers an insight into this condition that doesn’t discriminate.
The only criticism is that the writing was quite pretentious and slightly scholarly, which made it sometimes hard to read and enjoy. I may be quite used to YA writing though ?Show moreShow less
