How to Bee

This book is set in a dystopian world where bees are extinct, so the quickest, bravest farm kids climb trees to pollinate them. The farm people are the poorest of the poor and work on the farm to scratch out a living, but for Peony, this world is home. Then Peony’s mother swoops in to take Peony away to work in a rich family’s house. This story is one of my most favourite stand alone books, and I will alway keep this inspirational, albeit fictional story close to my heart.

This book was great it showed what it was like to be poor, and live on a farm. In the set time of the book the bees are a dying species, so they have a job called “bees” which are people doing the bees jobs, you have to be fast and sneaky to do these which is why they have a day where the people that want to do them can try out. I think this book would be great for 8-14yr olds.

This is a wonderful and heartfelt book that explores family relationships and friendship. The characters are well developed and the author gives you an unexpected story contrary to as you predict. Be warned this book is not the tale of all good fortune and involves sadness and pain in equal measure with happiness and joy. I give this book 5 super cherries.

This book was unpredictable.
I couldn't see what was coming and I was surprised at how it ended.
I loved how Peony was wild and convincing. The mood of the story changed where there was adventure, happiness, sadness and joy. The angry scenes made me feel frightened.
I really enjoyed reading it and wanted more when it ended. Show more Show less
