If We Were Villains

I have a weird relationship with this book. while it was really interesting and the premise was gripping, and i really enjoyed annotating and analysing the book and researching the shakespeare plays to make correlations between the characters and who they were cast as, i also didn’t feel all that connected to any of the characters. this lack of connection just made the punches of the plot hit less intensely and i found myself reading not because i cared about the characters but out of sheer curiosity. Though that in itself is a feat i suppose. honestly the last page/line of the book felt incredibly unnecessary and really spoilt the end of the book for me. why? why was that put in? it’s like a ‘and then i woke up’ at the end of a short story, it was so disjointed from the rest of the story. anyways rant over regardless of my small annoyances with this book it still was interesting and definetly a new reading experience for me. i also really enjoyed the setting and the focus on the obsession with shakespeare.
