Purple Hibiscus

In interesting book, set in Nigeria and detailing the lives of a family, a violent catholic father, 2 very frightened children and an abused wife; the grandfather who worships the 'old Gods', the sister/auntie forging a path where women are respected and equal. The ending seemed rushed, but this was Chimamanda's first book. And from accounts of other readers, the subsequent books are excellent. Show more Show less
