This is the third and final book of Cassandra Clare’s trilogy “The Infernal Devices”.
The story is about a young lady living in a shadowhunter institute in London in the year 1878,called Tessa. She is not a shadowhunter herself but was rescued by them after being taken by some dark warlocks (The Dark Sisters), trying to train her to use a power of transformation. She doesn’t know why she was taken or what creature she is, but wants to find out. She is in love with two boys, Jem and Will. Jem, who is slowly dying because of a demon drug that was given to him when he was a young boy, for revenge from a demon since Jem’s mother, when still alive, killed the demon’s children. And Will, who believed he was cursed from a child, and pushed all those he lived away in fear of his curse killing them like it killed his sister, Ella. There was actually no curse, as revealed in the second book of the trilogy, Clockwork Prince. Tessa is engaged to Jem while at the same time, trying to ignore her feelings for Will. Mortman, a mundane who claims that he created Tessa and needs her to make a weapon that will finally destroy shadowhunters. Both Jem and Will, the two boys who love her, will do anything to save her, even if it means to risk every thing.
If you like the sound of this book but haven’t read any of the first series, the first book is The Mortal Instruments: “City of Bones”. This is about a girl called Clary who grew up believing she was a normal girl, living a normal life, in a normal world. This was before she met Jace.
As Jace says, “All the stories are true”.
