I didn't mind this book. It was a bit childish however I wanted to read it as it is a classic and I believe that it was worth a read. It tells the story of a poor girl going to school in the 1940's and how she is teased by her classmates. I would have liked a more completed ending however I appreciate the theme. I think that it shares a moral but what happens at the end kind of confuses the meaning of the moral. I think that this book could be better enjoyed by a child of 2-11, however I still enjoyed it. A sensitive piece of literature especially for the contemporary generation. The teenagers today need to be instilled with such timeless virtues like empathy, appreciativeness, forgiveness and such lessons that should add quality to their lives.... intrducing such stories at this high school grade is quite commendable....
