The Lives We Left Behind, written by the young author Olivia Bratherton-Wilson was wonderful!
Her book, despite being very different from what my book is about, is what I hope I can create with my novel.
It is very well written and could get me to feel a range of emotions while reading it.
This was my first time sticky noting a book, and even then I only started halfway through. Why? Because the quote “He and She. It’s a difference of one letter” made me want to write it down somewhere for this review. However I would just loose it which is not helpful. So I thought I could put one sticky note in. But that was all…until I just wanted to stick a colour for all the emotions I felt while reading it. I ended up with four quote sticky notes, five shock/surprise, twelve angry/frustrated/annoyed (not at the writing but with the plot making me feel angry-so in a way it’s good), ten laugh/happy and ten sad. It was nearing the end of the book so it was a bit of a roller coaster of emotions as you can see.
And on the note of sad, one chapter which I do not wish to spoil made me cry twice. I had expected this chapter would probably show up but when I read it it was much more upsetting than I thought it would be. I wanted to place two sticky notes instead of just the one. I had been keeping my friend updated on the book as I was reading the last half of it late into the night. I read this sad chapter once and I had to tell her, so I read it out loud to her and not only did I cry again, but she did too and she hadn’t even read the book.
The storyline was mostly unpredictable beside the basics the blurb filled in, which kept me on my toes.

If you are looking for a good lgbtq book I would recommend this one. It was my first lgbtq+ and I am so pleased to have it. It is also supporting a very friendly young self-published author. You can find it on Amazon.

Often I don’t ramble on in my reviews but I can’t help it with the right book so my apologies if this was tiring to read. ?
