The Mother-in-Law

Sally Hepworth always writes a brilliant dysfunctional family drama, there's no doubt about that. You can't help but want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Although I didn't really feel the thriller vibes with this, it definitely feels more like a mystery.

I liked Lucy as a main character. She tries hard to be a good mother, wife and daughter-in-law. Ollie was a little flat, but Nettie and Patrick were interesting characters characters. Diane, however, was insufferable. Her "someone has it worse" attitude was starting to get on my nerves. It's hard to feel empathetic towards her because she treated her children and their spouses so poorly. But Tom was a nice balance.

I always love an ending that's hard to guess. The reveal was satisfying.
