Four mothers and their children head off to an Art Deco style hotel in remote Capertree Valley for a getaway. As the mothers spend more time with each other, the secrets they try hard to keep, start to unravel. Then one of the mothers vanishes.

This is a great story about motherhood, secrets and putting on a brave face in front of new friends.

I love when a book is set in Australia, especially NSW. McCausland has written yet another beautiful book, with a real gift in making the atmosphere in each story is so vivid and believable. This was a little eerie and I felt like I could actually picture myself there.

There were a couple of things I didn't love, like the multiple character POV that made it difficult to connect with any of them, until at least halfway through the book. I also think if we heard a little more about Teresa, Teresa's story wouldn't feel like it was a last minute addition.

But this was an easy read and I'm really excited to read the next book from McCausland!
