Unpacking Harper Holt was a fantastic book that explores the theme of teen identity. The Holt family was constantly on the move for work purposes, never permanently settling into a new area - though protagonist Harper always dreamed to. Harper undergoes the experiences of entering high school, making new friends and dealing with bullying, but that’s not all. She also experiences something so traumatic, it changes her life forever.
This book really allows the reader to understand Harper’s emotional rollercoaster of joy and grief as she has good times, but is constantly reminded of that traumatic event.
