The cars are packed and Jill, her three sons, their wives and children set off on their traditional Christmas Eve holiday. But disaster strikes as their secrets are uncovered.
Honestly, I wasn't sure about this book at first. I was about 100 pages in and contemplating whether to finish it or not.
There are a lot of trigger warnings for this. One of them is a big spoiler/twist, so I'd recommend checking them out.
In the beginning, I was a little distracted by the fact that there were so many characters - Jill, Mimi, Darren, Tony, Pete, Callie, Tara, Frank, Andrea, Violet, Leesa, Charlotte and so on. It was difficult keeping up with who was who, and made it hard to connect with the characters. I also found some of the stories a little farfetched.
However, I did keep reading and I'm glad I did. When the storyline picked up, I was hooked and couldn't put the book down.
Firstly, always love a story set in Australia (especially Sydney). Secondly, I didn't predict a lot of what happened, so that kept my interest.
I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. I thought the book was very creatively written. It's evident that Moriarty is a very talented author, and I look forward to reading more. I actually think this would make a great movie.Show moreShow less
