Reading with Purpose

This August I'm taking part in the MS Readathon, turning my love of books into something that can make a real difference for Australians living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

When I was growing up, one of Mum's closest friends was diagnosed with MS. Watching someone you care about gradually lose their independence is something that stays with you. What stayed with me most wasn't just the physical impact of the disease. Seeing someone whose personality, humour and determination remained exactly the same, while everyday life became increasingly difficult.

That experience has stayed with me ever since.

If you've followed www.MeeghanReads.com for a while, you'll know books are one of the biggest joys in my life. They've brought me comfort, hope, adventure and lifelong friendships. This August I'm hoping those same stories can help someone else.

This month I'll be reading my way through an ambitious TBR while raising funds to support Australians living with MS. Donations help fund practical services including specialist MS Nurses, personalised support, information resources, advocacy and research.
