When Lottie asked who she wanted to do the MS Readathon for, there was no hesitation. She chose her Aunty Ky.

In 2017, my aunty (mum's sister) had a very sudden onset of her first symptom when she lost part of her vision. Just three days after her 19th birthday, she was officially diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

 Today, at just 27 years old, she is completely legally blind in her left eye and continues to experience recurring optic neuritis. She was initially diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS but is now heading towards a diagnosis of Primary Progressive MS and undergoes disease-modifying treatments in the hope of slowing its progression. 

MS has changed every part of her life. She is one of the most caring, compassionate disability support workers you’ll ever meet, and helping others has always been her passion. Sadly, because her health has declined and continues to decline so rapidly, she has now had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave the career she loves.

No one should have to watch their future and dreams be ripped away from them by this disease. 

Lottie is reading to help raise funds for vital MS research and support services, with the hope that one day families like ours won’t have to experience what her aunty has.
