Hello! We're back!

Hi friends,
Finley and Poppy (and mum and dad lol), are back this year for the MS Readathon. Over the past two years the kids have raised $1500 to support MS Australia.

We weren't going to come back this year, as I'm tired and I'm proud of the kids for the fundraising they've already done. But with the recent announcements that my life-changing MS medication that has kept me stable and given me quality of life for 3 years may no longer be  available on the PBS, I've decided I needed to put my anger and fear into action and roped my kids into doing some reading. (Don't worry I'll also be lobbying those good old MPs).

MS Australia are currently lobbying the government and advocating to keep Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) and Kesimpta (ofatumumab) on the PBS. This is our way of supporting them.

MS has affected my life in so many ways possible for the last 6 years (!!!!!). I can't put into words how it feels to give birth to your baby and then not be able to walk, not be able to pick up your baby, to crawl up the stairs because your leg literally doesn't work. Then five weeks later when you still can't bloody walk, waking up completely blind in one eye. The eye tests, the visual fields, the blood tests, the MRIs, the A & E visits being told to go home because it's all in your head (haha). The extended time away from your 5 week old baby.

Life-changing DMTs are what have given me hope over the last six years. I failed Tysabri (which is a bad ass drug) after three years, and for the past three years O has kept me stable. Given me hope. Allowed me to plan for the future and not be terrified of one day not being able to function or look after my family. (Let's be honest, I'm an anxious person so I'm still terrified but I have accepted that the outcome will be what it will be).

The 38,000 Aussies living with MS deserve hope, and solid treatment options. So, we're back, and we're hoping, supporting, and advocating for the best, because I don't know where my family would be without it.

Your support helps kids fall in love with reading

We're asking for donations! Can you help? Your support inspires us to reach our reading goals this August. You're giving more than just encouragement!

You'll also help transform lives for families living with MS and neurological conditions when you donate.
