Why Ayan is Reading 186 Pages for People Living with MS

When I told Ayan that people might sponsor him to read a book, he looked at me with complete disbelief.

“You mean… people will give money because I read a book?”

Fair question, really.

After a lot of explaining, he finally understood that the reading isn’t what people are sponsoring. They’re supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and reading is simply his way of helping.

So this year, Ayan has signed up for the MS Readathon.

His goal is to read all 186 pages of Ninja Kid 3. For a five-year-old Kindy student, that’s a pretty big challenge, but anyone who knows Ayan knows he loves a good book. Give him a chapter book, and he’s a very happy little guy.

What makes us most proud, though, isn’t how well he reads. It’s his heart.

Ayan genuinely cares when he hears that someone is struggling. He asks thoughtful questions, wants to understand why things happen, and is always looking for ways to help. When we explained that people with MS can face daily challenges that most of us never think about, he didn’t hesitate. He simply said he wanted to help.

Ayan still thinks it’s a little funny that reading a book can help change someone’s life.
