Theo of Golden: 5 stars!
It is a long time since I've read a book that has made me think about the impact I have on others, and the impact others have on me. The elderly man who moves to Golden, Georgia, and asks to be known simply as Theo, is a fascinating character. Through his choice to be generous in pairing portraits by a local artist with their subjects, and to do the bestowals in person as an opportunity to meet and get to know the whole person the face belongs to, the reader gains a glimpse into a wide range of characters.How often do we look deeply at another person's face? To see the potential, the background, the uniqueness of this individual? How often do we consider our own face as others might see it?
This book was recommended to me by a new friend, who insisted on loaning me her copy, because it is her favourite book, and I can see why! I would definitely recommend it to other people myself!
This is what is so wonderful about reading, getting the chance to see the world through the eyes of another person, and getting to know a friend better by seeing what they love in a book. I hope you all have fun learning something new this month too!
